Daniel often reflects on the decisions that shaped his life. If he had accepted the scholarship in Berlin all those years ago, he would almost certainly be living abroad today, fluent in a second language and immersed in a different culture. Yet he stayed. He sometimes muses that if he were a less cautious man, he would have taken far greater risks in his twenties — and perhaps would have built the company he had always dreamed of. Still, he insists he has no real regrets; otherwise, he says, he would never have met the people who matter most to him now.
