Verbos frasales — Phrasal Verbs

פועל מורכב הוא צירוף של פועל וחלקיק (מילת יחס או תואר הפועל) שיוצר יחידת משמעות אחת, לרוב אידיומטית שאי אפשר להסיק ממילותיה (give up פירושו לוותר). חלק מהפעלים ניתנים להפרדה וחלקם לא.

  • She gave up smoking last year.היא הפסיקה לעשן בשנה שעברה.
  • Please turn off the lights.אנא כבה את האורות.

בפעלים הניתנים להפרדה, מושא שהוא כינוי גוף חייב לבוא בין הפועל לחלקיק (turn it down ולא turn down it). בפעלים שאינם ניתנים להפרדה המושא בא תמיד אחרי החלקיק (look after the children). מומלץ ללמוד כל פועל מורכב כפריט אוצר מילים נפרד.

  • The music is loud — can you turn it down?המוזיקה רועשת — אפשר להחליש אותה?
  • She looks after her little brother.היא מטפלת באחיה הקטן.

⚠️ Errores comunes de los hispanohablantes

  • Traducción literal de la partícula: los hispanohablantes tienden a elegir la preposición incorrecta (p. ej., "look after" frente a "look for") porque no hay correspondencia directa en español.
  • Orden incorrecto con pronombres en verbos separables: "turn down it" en lugar de "turn it down".
  • Intentar separar un verbo inseparable: "look the children after" en lugar de "look after the children".
  • Entender el phrasal verb como la combinación de verbo + preposición en sentido literal, en lugar de como una unidad de significado (p. ej., "give up" = rendirse, no "dar hacia arriba").
  • Omitir la partícula por completo: "I gave smoking" en lugar de "I gave up smoking".
