קראו את שני הקטעים וענו על השאלות בנוגע לרגיסטר.

Two versions of the same message were drafted. Version A reads: "Pursuant to our recent correspondence, we are obliged to advise you that the proposed amendments cannot be accommodated within the existing framework." Version B reads: "Just a heads-up — we can’t really squeeze those changes in with the way things are set up right now." Both convey an identical refusal, yet their register could hardly be more divergent: the former is impersonal, Latinate and institutional, while the latter is breezy, idiomatic and conversational. A skilled writer selects between them according to audience, purpose and the relationship at stake.
